Member Update

Ballincollig Credit Union

Dear Member

After a rather tumultuous year, I on behalf of the Board of Directors, the staff, and volunteers am writing to update you on several issues that are happening here in Ballincollig Credit Union Ltd.

COVID 19

As we all know, the arrival of COVID-19 and the subsequent restrictions has had a major impact on all our lives, I want to remind you that we in Ballincollig Credit Union Ltd have been and are still here to support you throughout this time and beyond. As an essential service, we will continue to operate with our normal Member Services and Opening Hours. We will continue to take the necessary precautions within the premises; however, we would encourage you to use our Online Services as much as possible including applying for a loan online.

2020 AGM

Due to the ongoing COVID -19 restrictions regarding indoor events and gatherings, it is not feasible for us to hold our AGM as normal this year. Current Credit Union legislation prohibits us from hosting an AGM virtually, the necessary legislative changes required to the Credit Union Act have now been passed by Government and are awaiting signature by the President. Once these changes are signed into law, we will inform you as soon as possible of a suitable date and how we intend to host the AGM, but it will be in early 2021.

DIVIDEND & INTEREST REBATE

Despite the disruption of COVID-19 restrictions imposed on the population since last March. We have had a positive financial performance in 2019/2020, and we have a strong business plan for 2021. The Central Bank of Ireland, our regulatory body has advised all credit unions that due to the continuing uncertainty of Brexit, COVID-19, and because of the uncertain nature of the economy, we should not pay a dividend or interest rebate this year

IN CONCLUSION

I would like to reiterate that we are here to help our members. Should you have any financial pressures please contact us to discuss same and together we can try and work it out.

Finally, on behalf of myself, the Board, Management, staff, and Volunteers of Ballincollig Credit Union, we all hope you stay safe and healthy and would like to wish you and your families a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.
